A Miami native with Cuban American heritage, Ms. Soret's upbringing was deeply rooted in Florida's vibrant culture. Graduating from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1996, she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Journalism and Communications, after which she pursued her passion for law at the University of Miami School of Law. In 1999, she graduated with distinction, obtaining her Juris Doctorate and being admitted to the Florida Bar in the same year.
Launching her legal career, Ms. Soret commenced her practice at a well-established Miami telecommunications law firm, where she actively participated in facilitating the purchase and sale of radio stations and other media entities. Concurrently, she held the esteemed position of Editor for Broadcasting and the Law, a widely-read monthly telecommunications trade paper.
Seeking a change of focus in 2002, she transitioned to a downtown Miami law firm as a litigation attorney, with a primary emphasis on automobile accidents. A year later, she embraced a fresh challenge, joining the country's largest minority-owned law firm. This new position allowed her to diversify her areas of expertise, encompassing premises liability, products liability, high-value automobile accidents, wrongful death, negligent security, and property damage (residential/commercial) cases.
In 2011, Ms. Soret co-founded Barton King Soret, P.A. in Coral Gables, Florida, where she demonstrated her exemplary leadership as the Managing Partner. At the firm, she adeptly represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in personal injury lawsuits. Simultaneously, she actively contributed to the Miami Beach Bar Association, holding the positions of Historian and Vice President. In 2014, she sought new experiences and became an in-house litigation attorney for GEICO Staff Counsel, skillfully representing GEICO and individual clients in numerous jury trials.
